Special Guest Dinner with Matt Cooper, founding member of Capital One

Summary:
Join us for a special evening with Matt Cooper, who was a member of the founding team of Capital One. He was also the Founder and Principal Managing Director of Capital One Bank (Europe), which he helped grow to 2 million customers and £275 million in revenue prior to his departure in 2001. Alongside this, Matt is an active angel investor, and has chaired and sat on the Boards of numerous high-profile, high-growth U.K. start-ups, including chairing the Octopus Capital group between 2001-2022.
Over dinner Matt will share the highs and lows of his career, how he led several companies through periods of hyper-growth, his experience building and chairing boards for both regulated and unregulated entities, being a prolific investor (he currently has a portfolio of 75 angel investments).
There will be plenty of opportunity to ask Matt any questions throughout the evening.
Meet the Speaker:
Matt Cooper is an experienced CEO and Chairman with deep experience in Fintech, the broader area of direct to consumer businesses, and even the third sector. Over the past two decades, Matt has been a very active angel investor, and he has chaired and sat on the Boards of numerous high-profile, high-growth U.K. start-ups, including co-founding and Chairing Tandem Bank, and serving as Chairman for ClearlySo Ltd and IGF Invoice Finance Ltd. Matt also chaired Octopus Capital group 2001-2022.
In addition to co-founding Exceptional Ventures, which he Chairs, Matt is currently Chairman of Cudoni Ltd. He sits on the Boards of VouchedFor Ltd, Restless Ltd, Clerkenwell Health, Live Tech Games and Here we Flo.
Before coming to the UK, Matt was part of the founding team of CapitalOne Bank in the States. He was also responsible for founding and running Capital One Bank (Europe) Plc, the company’s businesses outside of America.
