We are delighted to host an off-the-record dinner with Ed Wray, Co-Founder of Betfair and one of the UK’s most accomplished entrepreneurial figures.
In 1999, Ed co-founded Betfair and went on to build one of Britain’s most disruptive and iconic technology companies. As its first CEO and later Chairman, he led the business from launch to flotation on the London Stock Exchange in 2010 at a £1.4 billion valuation redefining an entire industry in the process. He has twice been named Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year.
But this evening is not simply about the success story.
It is about what happens after.
Ed has spoken candidly about the 18–24 months following his departure from Betfair — one of the most challenging periods of his journey. The transition from operator to investor. From identity defined by building, to redefining purpose beyond the business.
Since stepping down in 2012, Ed has become an active angel investor and FinTech director, holding roles at companies including Funding Circle, LMAX, Property Partner, and Prodigy Finance. He has also devoted significant time to philanthropy, serving as a trustee and chair across multiple organisations focused on youth development and mental health, including Mental Health Innovations, The Mix, Nesta, YouthNet and Coach Core.
This dinner is designed particularly for exited founders and those thinking about life beyond scale.
Expect an honest and reflective conversation exploring:
This is not a keynote. It is a conversation.
A rare opportunity to sit across the table from someone who has built, exited, invested and then intentionally redesigned the next phase of his life.
For founders navigating scale, contemplating exit, or already in the space between “what was” and “what next,” this promises to be a deeply thoughtful and candid evening.
