Advice from founders who've been there.

Helm has brought founders together since 2003. Our guides share what they have learned, written by Duncan Cheatle and Andreas Adamides with the Helm team. Here is how we write them, where the facts come from and how to tell us if something is wrong.

How we write. Six rules for every guide

  1. 01
    Written from founders' experience

Guides start from questions members bring to Forum and events: raising, selling, hiring, cash and leading. The advice reflects what founders who have done it found worked, not theory.

  2. 02
    Confidential by default

Forum is fully confidential and other events run under the Chatham House Rule, so we never quote a member, or describe their business, without their permission. Named examples are members who have agreed to be named.

  3. 03
    Facts checked against public sources

Figures about businesses, deals and funding are checked against company accounts, deal announcements and the press, and linked where we can. Where a figure can't be verified, we leave it out.

  4. 04
    Clear about who we are

Helm is a membership club, and our guides say so. Comparisons with other groups describe their format from their own published material, and we update them when they change.

  5. 05
A named author on every guide

Every guide and article carries the name of the person responsible for it: Duncan Cheatle, who founded Helm in 2003, or Andreas Adamides, Helm's CEO. Their profiles say who they are and what they have built.

  6. 06
    Dated and corrected

Every article shows when it was published, and when it was last updated. If something is wrong or out of date, tell us and we will correct it.
